Who Are You Anyway?!

Hello Loves! I’m Freddie J and I’d like to welcome you all to my Kingdom! I’m new to this world of blogging, this is my very first entry on my new page, so I’d like to formally introduce myself! I mean, because after all, Who Am I Anyway?!

So, as I stated, my name is Freddie J. No, that isn’t the full name that appears on my birth certificate, but we’re not even about to begin the phonetic breakdown of how to say my given name correctly. After 30 years of correcting people on it’s proper pronunciation, I’ve become remiss to continue on in that practice. It’s easier to meet someone and say, “hey, my name is Freddie” and continue on with the conversation than to repeat the pronunciation of my given name, go through the phonetic breakdown, feed my name to them in pieces and they STILL pronounce it wrong! So, to save us both the frustration and me the irritation and attitude, “Freddie” is what my name has become. So, heyyyyy y’all I’m Freddie!!! You’d think that after saying all that, my name is something hella complex… It ain’t… It’s only 9 letters. (Yea, only 9 letters, 4 syllables LOL). People have been mispronouncing my name since the age of 5, the very moment I entered elementary school. My biggest example and first fact about me being, I attended O. A. Thorp Scholastic Academy from kindergarten to 8th grade. We had one music teacher, Tony Dubetz the entire 9 years. Mr. Tony pronounced my name wrong for 9 years strong, regardless of how many times I corrected him UNTIL the day of my 8th grade graduation!!! Without correction, Mr. Tony FINALLY pronounced my name right for the first time. If I didn’t know any better I’d think he intentionally operated on this savage level of petty that prompted him to pronounce it wrong all those years. Then the very last time he ever had to say it, he says it correctly! I took it as our final goodbye!

I digress… I’m a rambler of sorts…

I am from Chicago, IL… Born and raised… WESTSIDE!!! I graduated from Lake View High School on Chicago’s North East side. Period. That’s all I have to say about that era. It was the most forgettable 4 years of my life! (Insert rolling eye emoji). <—Oh yea, fun fact #2, I speak in emoji sometimes. Anyway, NEXT!

I graduated from THE GRAMBLING STATE UNIVERSITY! Home of the WORLD FAMED TIGER MARCHING BAND and renowned football coach Eddie G. Robinson, located in North Louisiana. The 318… DAT BOOT BABY!!!

College was the best time of my life! So many life lessons learned, so many amazing memories made, so much growth, and so many lifelong relationships that I wouldn’t trade for the world! GRAMBLING MADE ME!!! Grambling, LA, hell Louisiana period will always be a second home to me. I literally get a euphoric feeling every time I cross the state lines back into Louisiana for any reason.

I graduated from Gram December 2010 with my Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing. I’m a Registered Nurse y’all! Look mama, I MADE IT!!!

Speaking of nursing, next fun fact number whatever, I’ve lost count… I’ve been an emergency room nurse for 6, almost 7 years. Yes, I’ve seen a lot, experienced a lot, and learned a lot. I LOVE what I do. I look at my career as being God’s certified helpers on earth; caring for the people of His Kingdom until they’re eternally home with the Lord. My profession is challenging, yet rewarding. It’s draining, yet exciting. Being a nurse has been my dream since I was a child. I did that… Nursing has taken me a lot of places in less than 7 years. 5 certifications, 2 state licenses, 8 hospital employments, travel nursing in both Illinois and Texas… I’ve done a lot… What’s next?! Who knows?!

I’m the middle child of 5 siblings and I have true middle child characteristics. I’m a solo player, a lone ranger of sorts, I walk by the beat of my own drum, I’m the kid that gets lost in the sauce (in every meaning of the term), I’m the peacekeeper,  I greatly value my alone time, I easily make friends and fit in, although I don’t try to, and in the words of Webbie, I’m hella I-N-D-E-P-E-N-D-E-N-T!!! Don’t believe me?! Look up the characteristics of the middle child and you’ll find my picture. I mean, not really, LOL, but that statement points to another middle child characteristic; we’re hella melodramatic! It’s a defense mechanism that’s naturally embedded in us. It keeps us from being forgotten by our parents in the shuffle of our older and younger siblings… FACTS!

Disclaimer: Middle child characteristics may not apply to ALL middle children, but they damn sure apply to me! PROCEED…

How would I describe me?! Well… I am the walking definition of a true Pisces woman… I’m intuitive, selfless (to a fault), generous (to a greater fault), introverted (I’m more so an ambivert), gentle, passionate (about everything), sensitive (hella), deeply emotional, very artistic, hella creative, and a true dreamer. Pisces are a water sign. We’re fluid. Meaning I generally go with the flow of things around me and I can adapt to any surround. I’m a dreamer in every sense of the word. I’m always dreaming, daydreaming, or simply lost in my thoughts at any given time of every single day. I’m loyal (also to a fault), I’m a self proclaimed comedian (in my head). I have my cracking up ALL THE TIME! LOL. I just love to laugh, period. I LOVE GOD!!! (You don’t love God?! What’s wrong wit chu?!) I’m adventurous, I’m stupid intelligent (<—like that oxymoron?!). I live in a constant state of sarcasm meets smart-assness. I’m classy, yet a tad bit ratchet, with a dash of hood. I’m a NATURALISTA! Whoever coined the term “sophistiratchet” ought to be earning a lifetime of royalties for the term. NO LIE! That’s me all day bro! I can go from singing Kirk Franklin and Deniece Williams one minute, to rapping Cardi B and Boosie Badazz the next. I consider it being well rounded. It’s balance! LOL

And for my loves unawares… Let me help y’all out…

(noun) a person of highly educated pedigree (academically, socially & otherwise). Fluent in various forms of public etiquette yet is equally knowledgeable of the latest trap music , updated on most prime-time ratchet cable programs & conversant in the tongue of ratchet.
Naturalista
Black female who takes pride in her Black hair (hair that is not permed or been chemically changed in anyway).
You’re welcome…

What do I like to do?! SLEEP!!! OK, so don’t judge me. I know that looks bad being one of my FIRST favorite things to do, but legit, my sleep is needed. Do you ever sit back and think about all the times you cried as a kid being forced to take a nap?! I do. I regret ever being so ungrateful towards a nap. It’s legit one of the best feelings in the world! Again, I digress… I love to read (although my schedule limits my ability to do). I love shopping, but then again, what woman doesn’t?! We’ll talk more about my habits in a future blog. I LOVE TO TRAVEL!!! OMG! My life literally revolves around traveling now. I’m always thinking of my next trip, creating a list of new places to visit, working to fund my next adventure… It’s a never ending cycle, but a pleasure I wouldn’t trade in for the world! (We’ll talk about my travel in future blogs as well). My ultimate dream job would be someone paying me to travel any and everywhere.

Why a blog?! I’ve always been somewhat of a writer of sorts. It started as an uncultivated talent as a child doing forced assignments  for whatever class in school. It wasn’t until my 9th or 10th grade in high school that my English teacher took a big interest in my writing and pushed me to pursue writing further. (I didn’t until now). She told me at that time that I should keep writing and start a journal at least, which I have done inconsistently over the years until recently. I’ve always been a fan of literature of all sorts, from Greek mythology, love/romance novels, urban literature, short stories, to the greatest book of them all, the best book, the good book, THE BIBLE! Writing has always come naturally to me. Mostly because verbal communication doesn’t. Writing is my preferred form of communication (old school handwritten letters, emails, text, journaling, now blogging. With verbal communication, I never feel that I fully express my points. My mind is always running non-stop. I want to be understood so much that I end up confusing myself at times… Le’Struggle… Le’Sigh… People cut me off in the middle of a thought/point (drives me nuts), I forget what I was saying/ trying to say, I never finish my point and the conversation heads into another direction. I always replay conversations in my head and think to myself of things I didn’t say or should have said. With writing, I can say what I want, when I want, how I want. I can take my time and think out all my points, then read and re-read everything until I’m satisfied in all the content. I’m a prisoner of words of sorts. <— That’s a whole future blog topic. I’m encapsulated by words constantly. Words I want to say, words I never said, or wish I’d never said, constant thoughts, etc.

So, I’ve decided to take the advice of my 9th grade English teacher and write. She told me to write a book; I’m writing a blog instead. Blogging is another form of journaling for me. (My journaling is another future blog topic as well). I currently operate out of 3 journals. A prayer journal between God and I, a private journal to myself full of some of everything,  a journal to my future husband, and now 4th is this blog. Like I said, I’m full of constant words. My blog is kind of going to be my journal to the world. A way for people to get to know parts of me. (Even people that think they already know me). I’m a bit of a closed book of sorts. I often play my cards close to the chest. So, here’s my attempt to crack the seal and show my hand. Whether anyone responds or not, so what! Writing is still and will forever be therapeutic to me anyway.

What will my blog consist of?! WHEW CHILE! Everything! It’s a lifestyle blog, so it will cover anything and everything involving life. Life experiences (mine), life lessons (mine as well), my travels, my crafts (yesssss I’m a crafter too), current popular topics, shopping, music, movies, TV shows, books, events, the reviews of different music, movies, TV shows, books and events (all in my opinion), and whatever else I think of to talk about or is suggested to me to talk about. I mean, when it comes to paper/pen (or laptop and keys), I can talk.

Why I chose to title my blog “Kingdom of a Queen”?! Well, because everything that I do; everything that I am is royal. Every person/thing that surrounds me is royal. It’s all sacred. It’s meant to be upheld with honor. It’s priceless. Irreplaceable. Important. My life is my Kingdom. And I’m the queen of the castle!

Sooooo, if you’ve made it to the end of this post then once again, WELCOME TO MY KINGDOM!!! Thank you so much for reading this… All of this… This blog is definitely a new journey that I’m embarking upon and I invite you all to join in the Kingdom. Until next time…

Stay Loyal, Stay Royal!

XOXO,

Freddie J.
